TeachersMrs. Jennifer Gonsalves, Grade TwoMrs. Jennifer GonsalvesMrs. Gonsalves returns to the Megan Furth Academy with a love of learning and a passion for teaching. Her motto has always been "by learning you will teach and by teaching you will learn." She has a B.A. in French and International Trade from Southern Illinois University and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, West Africa from 1999-2001, where she first experienced the joys of teaching. Mrs. Gonsalves had the unique opportunity to pioneer an education program at San Francisco State University, where she earned both a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and an Education Specialist Teaching Credential. She also earned a Masters in Special Education devoting her attention to the diverse learning needs of children found within all classrooms.
Grade Five Through Eight, Language ArtsMs. Michelle EscobarMichelle Escobar is returning to Megan Furth Academy to teach the first grade. She has been involved in the teaching profession for four years. Ms. Escobar graduated from San Francisco State University earning a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and History and continued her education at Monterey State University receiving a multiple subject credential. Since age five when she attempted to teach her cat to write with pencil in paw, Ms. Escobar knew she wanted to be a teacher.
KindergartenMs. Regan VieleRegan Viele grew up in San Francisco, attending public school from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Regan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Child Study from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She was awarded a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 1998. She then taught first grade for four years and kindergarten for four more years at John Swett Alternative Elementary school in the San Francisco Unified School District (1998-2006).
Grade ThreeMs. Abby HoskinsAbby Hoskins teaches third grade at Megan Furth Academy. This is her second year at MFA. She has previously taught Kindergarten in Ghana and was a student teacher in a fourth grade classroom at John Swett Elementary. She recieved her Bachelor's degree in Human Development at U.C. Davis and her teaching credential at S.F.S.U.
Grade FourMs. Shauna BerghShauna Bergh has been educating children for over five years. She has taught mainly in a sports related capacity; teaching dance, gymnastics and snowboarding to a variety of young ages. A move to the classroom seemed natural. She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado in 2000 and her Multiple Subject CLAD Credential from San Francisco State University in May of 2006. After completing a one year internship at John Swett Alternative Elementary School, she is thrilled to join the Megan Furth Academy staff. Ms. Bergh incorporates a strong literacy component with a multi-sensory and kinesthetic approach to learning. She activates imagination and encourages creativity by prompting students to use all of their senses in daily routines. Ms. Bergh looks forward to a successful year of learning in the 4th grade classroom, for students and teacher alike.

In teaching students and preparing students to receive the sacraments, I do rely on the love and guidance of God. Children are precious in God’s eyes. I do believe children are a gift from God!
Grade Five Through Eight, Science and MathMr. Kevin SullivanMr. Sullivan is a retired internet marketer. He has a BS in Math and Physics from the University of Scranton, and an MS in Physics from the University of Oklahoma. He has worked for Kaplan, a standardized test prep tutoring service. His goal is to remove the fear of standardized tests by including test taking tips during his lessons. Grade One

High School Applications Coordinator, Grade Five throught Eight Social StudiesChris UnruhChris Unruh is a free-lance writer and editor; a former assistant teacher and newspaper adviser at Sacred Heart St. Dominic; and a former editor at the San Francisco Chronicle.
