OverviewGiving to MFA
Megan Furth Academy was built on the foundation of Sacred Heart and Saint Dominic elementary schools, which have served San Francisco’s Western Addition since 1904. Megan Furth Academy is committed to a values based education for its students, many of whom come from low-income families and face great obstacles at home and in their neighborhoods. At Megan Furth Academy, religious instruction provides the backdrop that prepares young people to navigate life as moral, caring, service-orientated adults. A rigorous academic program exceeds grade level standards established by the State of California. In October 2005, the Furth Family Foundation purchased the recently closed Sacred Heart Parish property to develop it as the future home for the Megan Furth Academy. The Annual Benefit Luncheon helps raise a portion of the funds necessary to cover the annual cost of educational programs and operation. While each family is required to pay a portion of the $3,000 tuition, this does not nearly cover the actual cost of $12,142 to educate each child. We depend upon our generous benefactors to partner with us to cover the additional costs of $9,142 per student per year, or an estimated $1,279,880 for the 2007/2008 academic year.
